| In order for the Heat to have a chance to beat the Lakers' dominant front court, they can only shoot lots of 3's, and defend as hard as they can. That's the only way, IMO. The Heat had not faced any team with a front court as strong as Lakers in the playoff (Pacers lost Sabonis, Bucks only had Giannis but Lopez is not good in rebounding, and the Celtics didn't play Kanter much at all) before. In game 1, Adebayo often played to distribute the ball, but he ended up shooting mid range 2's instead. From Adebayo's seasonal stats, we can see that beyond 5~6 ft from the hoop, he shot rather poorly. So it was a mistake. They lost game 1 mainly because they had to guard the restricted area against big Lakers players and let loose the Lakers' 3-point shooters and they shot well during the game. In game 2, the primary ball handlers became Butler & Nun and they were fixated at attacking the rim instead of shooting 3's. Unfortunately, the Lakers have some of the best rim defenders in the league (AD, DH, LBJ, JM etc.) so it was a big mistake. They only attempted 27 3's in game 2, vs. 47 for the Lakers. Eventually, they lost the game due to poor rebounding (as usual).... |
